One of the highlights of the summer for the Bridgewater Fire Department Band is our annual trip to Government House in Halifax for the Lieutenant Governor’s Garden Party. On June 17, Their Honours The Honourable Mike Savage, Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, and Ms. Darlene Savage will welcome Nova Scotians and visitors to the historic grounds of Government House for an afternoon of community and celebration.
This event is especially meaningful to our band because Lieutenant Governor Mike Savage currently serves as our Honorary Patron and the band was granted vice regal patronage in 2013. We are proud to be part of an event that brings people together from across the province and showcases the strong sense of community that Nova Scotia is known for. The Garden Party has become a long-standing tradition for our band (even when occasionally forced inside by our Nova Scotian weather!), and we have been providing music for the event for many years in both full band and small ensemble forms.
As always, our musicians are looking forward to sharing a variety of music throughout the afternoon while guests enjoy one of Nova Scotia’s most unique summer traditions. We are honoured to once again be part of this special event.
