Bridgewater Fire Department Band is pleased to announce the appointment of Kerri Dorey as our new Musical Director. Kerri is no stranger to the Band, she has fond memories of playing in the band in her teenage years, and served as interim Musical Director in 2017. Having completed a successful career with the Royal Canadian Artillery Band, during which her duties included arranging music for various performances and leading and training musicians in marching routine, Kerri is in a strong position to direct and assist us with our performances both on parade and indoors.
The band’s yearly schedule is both intricate and diverse, as we play at commemoration services, parades, garden parties and other community events and celebrations. As well as organizing music and musicians for these events, Kerri will be charting the band’s future by choosing our repertoire and guiding and supporting each musician to help us perfect performances.
Band membership is expanding, and we are excited to move forward with Kerri’s bright and dynamic guidance. Preparing for concerts is full of complexities; it requires careful planning to ensure that the performances resonate with the audience, that each of the themed concerts have sufficient rehearsal time and that the conductor extracts the best performance possible from every band member. Kerri is getting ready to take this on whilst also getting to know us all as musicians.
Apart from her abilities as a musician and a conductor, Kerri carries with her positivity and strong practical sense which comes from serving in the armed forces. We are delighted to welcome Kerri as our Musical Director. It is an exciting time for the Band, and we are looking forward to presenting some great concerts in the fall.
