The BFD Band has a full strength of 40 members, and we’re currently looking for players- especially tuba, trombone, saxophone, and trumpet/cornet.
Why Join?
We keep things interesting. Our repertoire is varied and extensive, with performances at local and international engagements throughout the year.
We’ve got you covered. Members receive a quality instrument to use wherever they like, plus various orders of uniform. The only thing we ask you to provide is a pair of black pants.
We help you grow. Private instruction is available to any member who wants it, including players working toward the level needed to join.
We offer variety. Beyond our full ensemble, there are opportunities to play in smaller groups: jazz, brass ensemble, Dixieland, and more.
We travel. The band has performed at the Menin Gate in Ypres, Belgium on Remembrance Day, participated in an international military tattoo in Belgium, and toured England and Ottawa.
We build skills beyond music. Members can take optional training in first aid and basic firefighting. You don’t need to be a firefighter to join.

A Proud Tradition
The BFD Band is Canada’s only volunteer fire service band and one of the oldest continuing community ensembles in the country. We have fun doing what we do—and we do it pretty well.
